Who are TIPTeens? TIPTeens are young people who want to do something about the crime and tragedy they see around them. TIPTeens join the TIP program by attending the same rigorous Volunteer Training Academy attended by all TIP volunteers. After graduating, TIPTeens work side by side with TIP volunteers providing emotional first aid to traumatized citizens. Why TIPTeens ? TIPTeens enhance the ability of the TIP Chapter to serve teens and children who have been traumatized. TIPTeens also bring enthusiasm, energy, and a unique perspective which benefits the entire TIP volunteer corps.
Many young people want to make a difference in the community. The TIPTeen program gives them an opportunity to become involved in public safety and to perform a vital community service. In the process, TIPTeens learn crisis intervention skills which they find useful in their everyday lives. Services Provided by TIPTeens TIPTeens provide the same basic crisis services as adult TIP volunteers. However, TIPTeens can also provide the following "special services": * TIPTeens help traumatized teens who are resistant to the help of adult TIP volunteers * TIPTeens are called to emergency scenes to help children who have been traumatized * TIPTeens speak to their peers in local schools about the devastating effects of violence and about how to help others in crisis.
